Assignment Instructions

Important note for this assignment: Your respondents must remain anonymous throughout this assignment. To maintain their confidentiality, in your field notes, you must codify them and not list their names. You may number each subject or use initials instead, but no first or last names should be included.

1. For this research assignment and paper, you will first survey 20 adult people of your choosing to ask them about their attitudes about race. Do not survey or interview children, inmates, or anyone else who cannot give legal or voluntary consent.
2. Please tell your adult respondents that you are completing a research project and paper for your online Cultural Anthropology course on people’s understandings of, and attitudes about, race.
3. Explain no more. If respondents do not understand any of the five following questions, please ask them to simply answer to the best of their ability and understanding and explain that you are unable to discuss the question any further, according to assignment requirements.
4. Ask each of the 20 people the following 5 questions, and no more, and record their responses in your field notes, which you will submit with your paper:

Annotated Webliography

This project will require you to research sources available online about a topic related to your major or potential career. Through individual reviews of each source, your “webliography” will evaluate these sources and discuss the relative value of the sources to one another. Your secondary source review may be used as one of these sources.

You’ll post an introduction and your reviews of your sources on your own blog.

An annotated webliography is generally an online document with hypertext links to sources about the subject with reviews of the linked sources’ quality. These webliographies are generally posted to websites. To post your webliography, you will create your own online blog.

Requirements and Suggestions

For your annotated multimedia webliography, you will create a categorized list of web resources about your topic. You will post this webliography on your own blog. You must follow these requirements:

Your webliography should have at least twenty entries; these entries will be individual reviews of at least twenty sources.  Your entries must include traditional web pages, videos, blogs, and podcasts (you must have at least one of each of these media). You must include a distinctive title for your blog that identifies your webliography’s “What?” and “So what?” for your intended audience. You can use any system of categorization for your entries that seems appropriate.  You must include an introduction that identifies your webliography’s audience and purpose and a few relevant facts about you as an author (you can use a pseudonym, but you must make sure that I’m aware of that pseudonym). Each entry should also include a short description of the argument or information presented by the source.  You can use direct quotations from the reviewed sources that support your review of the source information or include quotes that particularly pertain to your own research.  You must include a brief analysis of each source. From your description and analysis of each source your audience should understand why you chose a given source, out of thousands, to include in your webliography. Your analyses should use Standard English with complete sentences. Please include valuable, reliable sources suitable for your intended audience in your webliography. For this assignment, you won’t need to turn in a hard copy. Instead, you’ll email me a link your webliography. To post the webliography online, you will need a blog.

Here are some free blog servers; blogger, wix, tumblr, and wordpress are some free options. Many websites themselves offer advice on how to create an effective blog.  Wix seems to have been the easiest to use in recent semesters.

When you create the webliography for your blog, consider how your design decisions may influence your intended audience. You can use a pre-designed template, but customize it to include elements specific to your topic (incorporating images and so forth).

To submit the final version of your webliography, submit a link to the blog where you have posted your webliography.

Comma Splices, Fused Sentences, and Fragments: Common Grammar Problems and Their Solutions

The fifteen examples here come from your classification and division (personality t.est) ess-ays.

Have you ever got on an elevator and the CEO gets on too? You then have a “captive” audience only for the time until you reach the top floor! Let’s say 60 seconds!!! Therefore, you must also submit a 60-second video of summarizing your entire project! (Your instructor will stop watching at exactly 60 seconds, and score you based only on what was watched.) You may record using Collaborate, Kaltura or any other method.

The purpose of the project is to demonstrate your depth of understanding of the course concepts. This applications project will also help you to retain the key material of this course for years to come.
This is an individual project.
Option #1:
Find a business who would like your help! This may be the company that you work for or a company where you know a senior manager. Offer to conduct a Supply Chain Management process assessment! The process is shown on Figure 13-3 in our textbook – your responsibility will be to get through the Gap Analysis with recommendations for improvements (note – there will not be time in this course to actually implement your recommendations nor validate their successes!). See also Figure 10-3 for details to prioritize your findings. For step #1, “Select Process”, the suggestion is to start with CRM or SRM with a customer or supplier with whom the company is having problems or is expanding business. Any other process would work well if there is a “burning bridge” problem that Supply Chain Management could support. Note – you will need to start early on this! By the end of Week One, you’ll need firm commitment from the company’s leadership, or you’ll have to default to Option #2 below. Should you gain approval, the sponsor will need to quickly assign a team of experts and schedule two meetings below:
1- Review sub-processes (where you give a short training session on the process selected), EXTRA CREDIT.
2- Assess performance (this can be done individually in a virtual survey–see the appendices in your textbook).
NOTE: You will NOT have time for a consensus building session to discuss scores and implementation ideas. Therefore, just present your average scores and ranges with your recommendations to your sponsor.
Option #2
If you do not have access to a sponsor for data collection, contact your instructor with the following:
1- Select your ideal company: provide name and product lines
2- Identify the supply chain process of greatest importance to your company
Your instructor will provide you a data set to analyze! You will also need to add your own “estimated assessment” as one additional participant in the assessment.
Your report will consist of:
1- All the materials you provided to the company,
2- All of the resulting assessments (should the sponsor allow confidential viewing by your instructor, or a summary of the results, or a signed memo from your sponsor stating what you accomplished),
3- A statement from your sponsor stating his/her impressions of your efforts, and

Reports must be in 12-point font, double spaced, and APA guidelines should be strictly followed, with the exceptions of NO Table of Contents and writing an Executive Summary (in lieu of Abstract). Project work will be graded on a number of criteria, including: conformance to prescribed content and format, grammar, readability, and the use of technical notations and diagrams.
