    Overview

Managing an international team will present unexpected challenges. You are in different time zones; you have different schedules; you come from different cultures; and your own communication style may be different from that of members of your team. Success of a geographically distributed team can be fostered by setting expectations that are informed by best practices and the cultures of your team members.

    Scenario

Your company is expanding into a new market and has formed a new team that it would like you to manage. Your manager has sent you this note:

Thank you for taking on this challenge. You have a great team, but they come from very diverse backgrounds. It’ll be up to you to ensure it is a cohesive team that communicates well and collaborates effectively. As you know, at our firm, we feel that the management of our teams and human resource management are strategic advantages for us. I would like you to write an email explaining to me what managerial approaches you will use and how you think your team will function together. Also, include your conference call invitation for your team’s introduction. I would like to review what you are going to send to your team.

    Directions

For this assignment, you will write an email and introductory conference call invitation as requested by your manager.

    Team Member Locations
Your team consists of the following four members from various locations across the globe:

    2. Kelly was born in and is based in the United States.
    3. Syed was born in and is based in Ethiopia.
    4. Nina was born in and is based in Vietnam.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

    • Write an email to your manager explaining how you plan to manage your team. It should include the following information:
      • Cultural Considerations: Identify the cultural considerations for each team member. For the purposes of this assignment, you can assume that each team member represents the average cultural dimensions of an average citizen of the country, and you are encouraged to use the Hofstede Country Comparison Tool, which is linked in the Supporting Materials section below.
      • Common Issues Among Global Teams: Identify the common issues among diverse or global teams and potential conflicts that could occur in your team.
      • Management Approaches: Explain the multiple management approaches you plan to use and why.
      • Holiday Policy: State a policy for selecting which holidays team members can take off that takes into account cultural considerations
      • Team Expectations Plan: Explain the determination of whether your team will collaboratively create a team expectations and communication plan or whether you as the manager will do it on your own, explaining your decision.
    • Conference Call Invitation: Create a conference call invitation, including the time of the meeting and agenda.

    What to Submit

Submit your email as a 200- to 350-word Microsoft Word document. Submit your conference call invitation by completing the Conference Call Invitation Template. Sources should be cited according to APA style.

As you progress through your psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) residency, clinical reasoning becomes increasingly multifaceted—requiring synthesis of diagnostic, therapeutic, ethical, and contextual factors. This assignment challenges you to visually and analytically represent your clinical decision-making process for a complex psychiatric case using a flowmap or decision tree. You will demonstrate how you apply evidence-based reasoning, ethical and legal principles, and culturally responsive care throughout your decision process.

    Assignment Instructions

    1. Select a Case: Choose one complex, de-identified psychiatric case from your current or previous clinical experience. The case should reflect a multifactorial presentation (e.g., comorbid medical or psychiatric conditions, cultural factors, ethical dilemmas, or treatment adherence challenges).
    2. Create a Clinical Flowmap (Decision Tree or Mind Map): Use Canva, Lucidchart, MindMeister, or PowerPoint SmartArt to design a visual decision map that clearly illustrates your advanced reasoning process. Your flowmap should include:

Clinical presentation and key assessment findings Differential diagnosis and final diagnosis rationale Evidence-based treatment decisions (psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, or integrated care) Ethical and legal considerations (e.g., confidentiality, involuntary treatment, informed consent) Cultural, lifespan, or social determinants of health adaptations Expected outcomes and follow-up considerations 3. Write a 600–750-word Rationale: Accompany your flowmap with a concise written analysis that explains why you made each major decision. Discuss:

How evidence, guidelines, or theories supported your choices How you balanced ethical and legal responsibilities How patient diversity and context influenced your plan How your reasoning reflects the PMHNP scope and standards of practice 4. Support with Evidence: Include at least 2–3 current scholarly sources (within the past 5 years) cited in APA Style (7th ed.) to support your analysis.

    Submission Requirements

Submit a single Word document that includes:

    · The visual flowmap (embedded as an image or figure)

    · The written rationale (600–750 words, excluding references)

    · APA-style reference list (2–3 sources minimum)

After completing this activity, the learner will be able to:     •    Identify several professional nursing journals available in the media center.     •    Locate online articles in established professional nursing journals.     •    Review a journal article and critique it for content and credibility.     •    Summarize the author’s ideas in the student’s own words, without plagiarizing.     •    Write a bibliography according to accepted standards.     •    Present a brief (five minutes) oral synopsis of a professional article.

Purpose of Activity Professional journals provide a means of communication between various segments of the nursing profession. Current research findings are documented in these periodicals to keep other members of the profession up to date on new theories and modalities used to treat clients. Nursing students should become familiar with professional journals so that they become accustomed to reading them to keep abreast of current trends in the profession. They also should learn to discriminate between journals and authors to determine which are worthy and reliable. The purpose of the journal article review is to help the beginning nursing student become aware of the professional journals that are available to them and to learn about an area of personal interest that relates to client care.

Project Guidelines     •    Review the course objectives located in the course Syllabus.      •    Consider a topic of interest to you that correlates with a course objective, has relevance to nursing, and would also have some appeal to your classmates.     •    Using appropriate library catalog or search tools, find a professional nursing journal article from a recommended source that addresses the topic.     •    If you are unsure the the journal article you chose would be considered a professional nursing journal article, check with your instructor for guidance.     •    Following the rubric provided, prepare a review of the journal article to be presented to your clinical group during pre or post conference time as assigned.     •    The oral presentation should include a brief, five minute or less, review of:     ◦    Journal title     ◦    Journal article title     ◦    Author (at least one author is a nurse)     ◦    Date published (within five years)     ◦    Content     ◦    Findings of article     ◦    Why chose this article and why relevant to Foundations of Nursing course     •    Do not attempt to teach the content of the article.     •    The presentation date/time will be assigned clinical faculty.     •    Provide a copy of the rubric and article accompanied by a bibliography to your clinical instructor.     ◦    For help with formatting your bibliography in APA–please visit the Purdue Owl website: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/section/2/10/

Problem Statement:  There is research that shows the U.S. Postal Service is in jeopardy of going out of business. We plan to present the numbers and facts with correlate to the business model that they currently operate under needs addressed. Our goal is to make aware so that hopefully the postal service can get the help they need from congress and address the business model. The postal service is one of the biggest employers in the United States and if they were to end operations that can have catastrophic results on the economy.

The topic for the Applied Dissertation or Strategic Research Project generally comes from the student’s workplace or area of interest. For this assignment, provide a brief (2-3 pages) description of background relating to a particular research problem (or need). An actual problem should be indicated with accompanying evidence.  Submissions that are more than 3 pages in length (not including cover page and references) will not be accepted.

The paper should be organized based on the headings below. To develop the Statement of the Problem (as illustrated in Creswell, p. 58) should include the following APA headings (Level 2):

    Introduction

This is a brief description of the proposed area of study. Include up to three sentences.

    The Research Problem

This is an area of conflict, concern, or controversy.   A research problem is just that: a PROBLEM.  Note that a problem is not a gap in the literature and is not the purpose of your study.  Present the research problem itself in a precise and actionable manner, starting with the phrase: “The problem to be addressed in this study is…” This statement should describe the gap between what is currently observed and what is desired, emphasizing its significance to the organization, system, or population impacted. For instance, your research problem statement might state: “The problem to be addressed in this study is the lack of professional development opportunities for teachers in underfunded schools in a large urban school district in the South.”   Your research problem section should include the one sentence research problem statement that clearly states the problem, followed by a few additional sentences that provide context or explanation to help the reader fully understand the issue you are addressing.

    Background and Justification

Provide evidence from the literature and experience showing that the problem exists and the relevance. Include at least two references.  This section should be just two to three paragraphs.

    Deficiencies in the Evidence

Include a brief discussion that details the deficiency or lack of evidence in the literature.  This is where you explain the gap in the literature – what we do not know about the research problem.  This section should be just one paragraph.

    Audience

Discuss who is affected and who benefits.  This section should be just one paragraph.

TOPIC: Asthma Management and Environmental Triggers

    EXERCISE INSTRUCTIONS:

S.M.A.R.T. goal is defined by its five key aspects or elements. Without all aspects, you might be goal setting, but not effectively creating a plan for success. Let’s take a closer look at the five elements of S.M.A.R.T. goals.

    Specific

Specific goals have a desired outcome that is clearly understood. This might be a sales number or a product rollout goal. No matter what it is, the goal should be clearly articulated so that everyone is on the same page with the objective. Define what will be accomplished and the actions to be taken to accomplish the goal. Goal must be clearly defined —who and what

    Measurable

These are the numbers used with the goal. You need to have a quantifiable objective so that you can track progress. Define what data will be used to measure the goal and set a method for collection. The success toward meeting the goal can be measured. Outcome must demonstrate levels of change or improvement.

    Achievable

Goals need to be realistic in order to maintain the enthusiasm to try to achieve them. Setting lofty goals is good, but you may want to break them down into smaller, bite-sized chunks. If the goal is not doable, you may need to first ramp up resources to give yourself a shot at success. Ramping up resources would likely be its own S.M.A.R.T. goal. Goals are reasonable and can be achieved.

    Relevant

Goals should be aligned with the mission of the company or the specific project at hand. Don’t set goals just as an exercise for something to do. One way to determine if the goal is relevant is to define the key benefit to the organization or your personal goal. The goals are aligned with current tasks and projects and focus on one defined area

    Time-Bound

Goals should have a deadline. A goal without a deadline doesn’t do much. How can you identify success or failure? This is why S.M.A.R.T. goals set a final date. This doesn’t mean that all the work is done, but it means that you can evaluate the success of the endeavor and set new goals. Goals have a clearly defined time frame including a target or deadline date.

Using the information presented as a guide create a SMART goal to improve the indicators of your health problem at short or long term.

Your SMART goal should be listed in your introduction.

Include a paragraph to introduce your topic and place it in context for your reader. Do not forget to cite your sources. Utilizes at least 4 sources and all sources are current within 5 years. (2022-2026).

REFERENCES Must have DOI Numbers for me to look them up- If I am unable to verify the references points will be deducted.

SMART goals help improve achievement and success. A SMART goal clarifies exactly what is expected and the measures used to determine if the goal is achieved and successfully completed.

    Examples:

    Not a SMART goal:

    ·       Reach out to stakeholders.

Does not identify a measurement or time frame, nor identify why the improvement is needed or how it will be used.

    SMART goal:

    ·      The Department will launch communications with stakeholders by conducting three focus groups specific to needs assessment and funding by the end of the first quarter.

NOTE: Please ensure you follow the SMART format when you are formatting your SMART GOAL and its explanations. This assignment is to be submitted with the following:- WITH an introduction, questions developed at the graduate level, and a conclusion to summarize and synthesize key points. APA must be strictly followed. This assignment should be minimally 3 pages  [not counting references and title page] as the rationales utilizing EB Practice for each component of your SMART goal should be explained.
