    ANML5002TP Assessment Brief

TASK 1: In This Task You Are Focusing On ANATOMY Aka Structure.

Task 1A: Identify all relevant structures associated with the cardiac and respiratory systems, and describe how these structures interact with each other. = Name structures involved in BOTH systems and how they interact with each other in each system. (You can mention physiological processes and expand on it in Task B)

Task 1B:  Compare the structures of your body systems in dogs and cats, then describe how these structures would differ in a bird or a rabbit. = Compare the structures in both a cat AND a dog then discuss the differences you would see in a rabbit OR bird.

Task 1C: Describe how understanding the normal structures and relationships of organ systems helps veterinary nurses provide effective care.= How having an understanding of anatomy and relationships will help you as a veterinary nurse to provide care for your patients in the hospital.

Task 2: In This Task You Are Focusing On Function And Physiology

Task 2A: Identify the physiological process and explain the normal bodily function. = You must identify 1 process PER system (2 in total) and how this process works. In order to not repeat the information from task 1, this is where you will focus on the PROCESS and what is happening in the body rather than the structures. Eg. if you mentioned gas exchange in Task 1 this is where you will be explaining the mechanism.

Task 2B: Explain how the identified physiological processes work together with the structures in your chosen body system in dogs and cats. Then explain how these functions are different in a bird or a rabbit. =Explain how the 2 processes you have chosen to collaborate in dogs AND cats and then discuss the differences you would see in a rabbit OR bird.

Task 2C: Explain why understanding this physiological process and the species-specific differences relates to veterinary nursing = How having an understanding of physiological process will help you as a veterinary nurse to provide care for your patients in the hospital.

    Developing Organizational Policies and Practices

Competing needs arise within any organization as employees seek to meet their targets and leaders seek to meet company goals. As a leader, successful management of these goals requires establishing priorities and allocating resources accordingly.

Within a healthcare setting, the needs of the workforce, resources, and patients are often in conflict. Mandatory overtime, implementation of staffing ratios, use of unlicensed assisting personnel, and employer reductions of education benefits are examples of practices that might lead to conflicting needs in practice.

Leaders can contribute to both the problem and the solution through policies, action, and inaction. In this Assignment, you will further develop the white paper you began work on in Module 1 by addressing competing needs within your organization.

  • Discussion: Challenger After reading the case and watching the material here: Challenger Case, write an initial discussion post (500 words) in which you respond to the Challenger decision

    Discussion: Challenger

After reading the case and watching the material here: Challenger Case, write an initial discussion post (500 words)  in which you respond to the Challenger decision as if you were part of  the launch decision process reviewing the data the night before liftoff.

In your post, address the following:

    • Explain whether the first table alone provides a clear enough reason to recommend a no-go decision.
    • Discuss how the omission of the zero-damage flights changes the meaning of the analysis.
    • Reflect on how including the full dataset improves the clarity of the relationship between temperature and O-ring damage.
    • Explain where the forecasted 26°F launch temperature falls relative to the historical data and what that should mean for the launch decision.
    • Consider the human and organizational pressures in the case. What factors may have affected how the engineers presented the data and how managers interpreted it?

Your response should be analytical  and grounded in the case. You do not need to compute statistics, but you  should clearly explain how the structure and presentation of data can  influence decision-making.

After posting your response, reply to at least one classmate (50-100 words).  In your reply, move the discussion forward by building on, questioning,  or refining their analysis. For example, you might comment on whether  the evidence was persuasive enough, whether the visualization changed  the argument, or how organizational pressure shaped the final decision.

This discussion should help you think about an important course theme: good analysis is not enough if the data is incomplete, biased, or poorly communicated.

    Discussion: New Coke

After reading the case and watching the material here: New Coke, write an initial discussion post (500 words) analyzing why Coca-Cola’s decision to launch New Coke failed even though it was supported by extensive research data.

In your post, address the following:

    • Identify the main research design flaw in the case.
    • Explain why the blind taste tests misled decision-makers.
    • Discuss what important variable or dimension was not being measured.
    • Propose at least two additional or alternative research methods that could have better captured consumer reactions, especially emotional attachment, brand meaning, or loyalty.
    • Describe what data you would collect today to avoid a similar mistake, using a mixed-methods approach that combines quantitative and qualitative evidence.
    • Conclude with a brief reflection on what this case teaches about the difference between data-driven and data-informed decision-making.

Your response should be analytical,  specific, and grounded in the case. Focus on explaining why the  available data led to the wrong conclusion, not just on stating that the  launch failed.

After posting your response, reply to at least one classmate (50-100 words).  In your reply, move the discussion forward by extending, questioning,  or refining their analysis. For example, you might suggest a stronger  research method, challenge whether their proposed data would really  capture brand attachment, or expand on their distinction between  data-driven and data-informed decisions.

This discussion is designed to help you think critically about a central course lesson: having a large amount of data does not guarantee a good decision if the wrong thing is being measured

The assignment template below will help you create slides for a basic slide presentation. Then you’ll be able to practice using the presentation technology as you put the finishing touches on your presentation.

Before you get started, let’s look at how you’ll be building the presentation, step by step.

Select an organization that you are familiar with.

The most successful learners select an organization that is a public company with readily available information to meet the analysis requirements of the rubric. These successful learners do not rely solely on their personal knowledge but instead use evidence from references to support points in the touchstone.

Learners that struggle with this touchstone are those who select an organization that is small, hyper-local, non-profit, or governmental; this includes municipalities or the company they work for. We suggest you avoid organizations in these categories.

Organizations that should NOT be used include:

Amazon Amnesty International US Bank Walmart Tesla

    Sample Student Paper Excerpt

The group in Group Therapy: A Live Demonstration operates in the storming stage of Tuckman’s model, where members test boundaries and express initial conflicts over social challenges. Curative factors like universality emerge as clients recognize shared struggles, fostering hope and reducing isolation to advance individual progress. Intragroup tension arises when one member dominates discussions, yet the facilitator models active listening to de-escalate; evidence supports such interventions in building cohesion (Yalom & Leszcz, The theory and practice of group psychotherapy, 2020). Strategies include reframing conflicts as growth opportunities, which aligns with recent studies on group dynamics in mental health settings.

    Curative Factors in Action

Building on the demonstration, group cohesiveness strengthens when members validate each other’s experiences, as seen in a study of outpatient therapy groups where this factor predicted 65% variance in symptom reduction (Burlingame et al., 2021). Case examples from adolescent anxiety groups show altruism—members offering support—accelerates norming and task focus.

    • Cohesiveness correlates with attendance and outcomes in meta-analyses of 100+ trials.
    • Universality reduces shame, per DSM-5-TR aligned research.

Real-world application appears in veteran PTSD groups, where shared narratives enhance interpersonal learning.

    Managing Storming Conflicts

Students often overlook how unaddressed power struggles stall progress; compare CBT reframing versus NVC for resolution—NVC excels in diverse groups by emphasizing needs over blame. Key considerations include pre-group screening to match readiness levels, addressing a common rubric pitfall. Recent guidelines from the American Group Psychotherapy Association recommend structured check-ins; for instance, solution carousels generate buy-in.

    1. Map conflict timelines to identify triggers.
    2. Prioritize motivational interviewing for resistance.
    3. Follow up with behavioral contracts for accountability.

This approach ensures ethical practice and high rubric scores.
